6 PhD scholarships in the Jürgen Manchot Graduate School Tuning Triplets for Optics and Reactivity (TUTOR)

The Jürgen Manchot Graduate School TUning Triplets for Optics and Reactivity (TUTOR) offers an innovative, structured training and research program in a both stimulating and interdisciplinary field of organic synthesis, spectroscopy and theoretical chemistry. Highly motivated and excellent candidates holding a MSc degree in chemistry, business chemistry, biochemistry  or related subjects are strongly encouraged to apply. Outstanding graduates with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, business chemistry, biochemistry or related subjects may be admitted to a fast-track doctoral program after completing the subject-specific preparatory studies defined in the doctoral regulations .
The scholarship comprises inter alia a monthly allowance of 1,900 € plus 200 € for additional expenses over a period of 3.5 years as well as a budget for material expenses and financial support for the attendance of national and international conferences.

Requirements

TUTOR invites PhD candidates for advanced research in organic chemistry, spectrocopy and theoretical modelling. 

Highly motivated and excellent candidates holding a M.Sc. degree in chemistry, business chemistry or related subjets are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Application documents

Include a detailed CV including academic background, research experience, and publications.

Include a motivation letter describing why you would like to join the graduate school program and your research interests. Include a statement for which project you apply.

Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and transcript of records

Transcripts of previous study, including credit hours and marks obtained and copies of relevant diplomas and degrees in English or German. Please do not scan with more than 300 dpi in black/white or grayscale.

Submitted certificates must contain grades and should be accompanied by an official rating scale of the issuing institution. Do not send unrequested certificates or documents like additional attestations of university courses etc.

Include contact details of at least two academic referees. 

Application process

Fill all required fields and upload your documents. 

Please scan all documents requested and preferably put them into a single, separate pdf‐file with a max. size of 5 MB.
Please do not scan with more than 300 dpi in black/white or grayscale. 
Submitted certificates must contain grades and should be accompanied by an official rating scale of the issuing institution. Do not send unrequested certificates or documents like additional attestations of university courses etc. 
Ensure that your application documents are complete (preferably in a separate, single pdf‐file): Curriculum vitae, motivation letter, certificates of your academic education steps, referees.

Your application will be reviewed within 4-weeks of submission.

After the review process, potential candidates will be invited to an interview, conducted on-site or by video depending on location.

Within 2-weeks after the interview the interviewed candidates will receive the results. 

The program will start in September 2026.
